Analogues episode 4

June 2, 2009

analogues3

A long time coming, but here we have episode 4. In this episode, we meet the original co-creator of Analogues, RaptonX

It took a bit longer to edit this one than I would have liked, but it’s still good.

Good Job, but the Swine Flu gives me a ‘different’ thought (A ‘certain’ flu from the stories in the Tales from the Blind ‘Pig’ series to be more specific)

Personal response, telling a hacker that “TF fans all over the world are freaking out” is just going to make it worse. A hacker hacks because it’s what he does- he loves to illicit response. He gets a kick out of knowing that he caused chaos with nothing but a computer and his mind power. It’s sort of like the kid that always wanted to be the villain when you played Power Rangers as children- he liked the chance to be in control.

The best response to a troll/hacker I’ve ever seen was actually on Cyoc not too long ago, when Zcross posted that generic 4-chan “Pool’s Closed” crap. No one got upset and butthurt, they didn’t even laugh it off. It was just, “Dude. You’re late. We’ve been trolled so many times this isn’t even original.” I was, for once, laughing at the troll getting DESTROYED, instead of the troll destroying.

And as far as Transfur goes, that was sort of one of my first TF sites, you know? I have trouble bashing it. I appreciate their attention to quality, because there are too many artists out there who, quite frankly, suck, and people are afraid to tell them. It’s a filter when I solely am looking for quality.

Really, though, I still LIKE a lot of shit art- I think that Tinatailed on Deviantart, while not being the best artist, really knows what I want when it comes to transformation art. She’s very sensual, and I’ll advertise for her all day, even though I know she’s nowhere near the same skill level as, say, Flinthoof.

I digress: back to Transfur, I’m sort of pissed that we don’t have the new themes… it’s been over a month. WTF!

LONG comment. Sorry guys. Thanks for keeping me posted on the TF news! I look forward to your next episode. OH… and could you PLEASE do something on Destier opening his site again? I know I’ve e-mailed you about it before, and I hope I don’t sound too pushy, but… I’m a fangirl. What can I say?

Interesting that you say that. We did make a post on Tanuke about Destrier’s site, as well as the Something Awful ALotD about it. I personally contacted Destrier and asked if he would like to be on Analogues, but he politely declined.

I actually DID see that post, and I was super excited. Something about, “No idea why I’ve been sitting on this piece of news…” See? I DO read! =P

Aw, he declined? That’s unfortunate. I guess I’ll go back to lurking on his site from a distance.

First thing at all, thanks for your show.
It’s an important contribution to keep the scene of transformation alive.

    – To the hackers

Considering the action of hackers, it’s always a mad thing when they destroy something,
that’s for sure. Nevertheless I’m sure that they are rather smart, because otherwise they haven’t been able to hack the concerned pages. So keep in mind that there are enemies around who makes it very difficult to protect oneself against. For that reason I think it’s important that people of the fandom with plenty knowlegde about IT-technique and this stuff should engage stronger to protect our beloved stuff.

Another consideration must be, why they do this. I can’t imagine that their motivation emerges of their boredom as it’s quite difficult to hack our stuff. They probably have some problem with the content of this fandom. As a result I always think about what my art means to the public, to the people who watch it. On the one hand provoking and extraordinairy stuff is quite interesting but on the other hand it bothers lots of people.
Consequently it must to be expected that people try to work against what makes them angry and for this reason protection of this endangered stuff havs to be improved.
A good way is always to make lots of copies of the tf data on different media, i.e. on usb sticks.

Another thought is the amount of TF porn around. I think there is lots of artwork around that is really unneccessairy as it’s sometimes releated to justified illegal art. In my opinion it destroys the reputation of those TF fans who just enjoy the change and it provokes more people to work against all TF stuff in general. There is no wonder when these pages are getting attacked.
So I hope that these two things get seperated so that admins of TF pages forbid porn of their pages.

    – To Transfur

In my opinion transfur is an important platform for TF artists as it has a good performance and there is lots of good art on it. In general having your pics on this page can help an artist to get better known, to get more commissions and to make technical as well as financial advance. And at last that helps also the fandom to receive better stuff.
So transfur is partly responsible for the health of the TF fandom.
I have sent them my artwork three times yet and was rejected every time with the argument that my art isn’t good enough. To be honest, there are many better artists around however I guess it’s good enough compared to the other stuff on the page.
I tried to contact the responsibles of the page for more information why my art wasn’t accepted. No response. Other asking some other people of the fandom I found out that qualitiy of the art is not the criterion if you get your place there but the money you spent for them. In this way the fandoms future depends more on economic politics than on the content. And …is this the way we want to go?
In summary they fail to fulfill their responsibiliy to advance the fandom and that’s really a shame. I’m sure my case is just an example of many frustrated artists.
That’s why I hope and even demand that the owner of the page gets more liberal or the responsibles changes.
In addition I still hope that a similar page will open someday. So to everyone who have considered to do this, please fulfill this hope. thank you.

    – Why people stop drawing

Here is another interesting point that leads me to the question, why do we like TF and how can it disappear. I’m sure that it emerges when something in your life went wrong. (Don’t get me wrong, it doens’t mean that you are a worse person, but that something in life went different then for other people) Events in life effects in a way on you that makes you dislike people more then others and that’s why you are more interested in other things than in other people. Furthermore TF is no doubt a kind of escapism. You like the idea to escape from your body to enter a new mode of life. In other words when something in life makes you unsatisfied, TF becomes more interesting for you. Consider the combination of these theories and you have a possible explanation why people are affected to TF.
Now consider that your life’s situation improves. You like to be you and you are heading forward in life. In this case TF gets less interesting then.
Ironically, if this theory is right, it means that you can expect good art when the artist is mentally really ill.
Maybe here is a problem. Because if the illness is to strong, the person considers to give up his life as a whole and then the artwork disappears with this person.

And this determine if artists galeries appear or disappear.
Its the basic part of the idea. But I think in gerenal that, when peoples life improve, the TF fetish can still remain as a part of a personality as it has been internalized strong enough to stay. ..will it disappear someday then? I can’t say.

    – Motivation

Yeah. You guys are totally right. Comments are the food an artist need to know that he creates something nice for the public. I guess this is a reason that has to be added to my previous passage considering the question if and artist continue work.
For myself there are two reasons that keep my drawing. First, my own motivation to create a world I like. And second the amount of comments, favorites and watches. ..the idea to create something for the people. ..well.. a third point that might count for some artists is to get money for commissions.

    – Feedback to your Show

I really like it and it’s a nice idea to make different categories. I think it would a a really interesing thing to install listener charts or something like that. That means to offer some new published TF pics and let the listener decided whats their favorite pic.
First it helps artists to get more popular and it helps fans to find new good art. (especially when you announce the links to the pic in the show or list them in a comment here) You could also discuss single pics and discuss the intention of the artist and what you think about this pic. Maybe you could choose the winner pic of the listener charts.
..well just some ideas, I hope it helps^^

So keep on working on the great show

    best wishes,
    plushdragon
